National Debate Competition |
A National Debate on "Poverty, Youth and Unemployment" was organized on the occasion of The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty by Pragya Foundation and UNDP on 17th October, 2008.
3 students from school level and 9 students from college level were selected for the final round from the total of 57 students from various schools and colleges. The finalists were chosen on the basis of the written round which was held on 15th October 2008. The oratory presentation of the written debate was held at the Russian Cultural Centre on 17th October 2008.
The Best Speakers viz. Ms. Anustha Shrestha of Chelsea International Academy, Ms. Nitya Poudel of Universal College and Ms. Pooja Gautam of St. Xavier's College from college level and Master Prakash Gautam of Siddartha School, Banepa from school level were awarded on 24th October at the UN House. Mr. Robert Piper, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative gave away the award to the winners. |
